In loving memory of Jessie McGroty, born July 10, 1920 in Regina, Saskatchewan, she passed away peacefully on June 4, 2016 at Ridgeview Lodge. Born into a large family, Jessie was predeceased by all her family members, her husband Charles in 1965 and her son Gary in 1980. She leaves to mourn, daughter Diane Marie Smith; four grandsons Richard Thomas Smith, Michael Lee (Jamie) Smith, Darrell Allen Smith and Bryan Colin (Jenn) Smith and four great grandchildren.
Jessie grew up in Regina, moving to Ontario to work in the Bomb Factory. Eventually moving to BC in the 1940’s, she worked at various Cariboo ranches. She met Charles in Cache Creek and they were married in Vancouver in 1949. Together they moved to Revelstoke, where Diane and Gary were born and again another move in 1960 to Kamloops, where she has remained since. Jessie enjoyed bowling, dancing, traveling on tour bus trips and volunteering with the Senior Centers. A great lady who will be sadly missed by so many of her friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Schoening Funeral Chapel with Pastor Don Maione officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice will be greatly appreciated. Our many thanks to Ponderosa and Ridgeview for the care they bestowed upon Jessie.
