1935 – 2016
Rosemary “Rose” McAuliffe of Kamloops passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016 with family by her side.
Rose is predeceased by her mother Marjorie “Madge” and father Morley Endean, her brother Norm “Butch” (Mona), and her partner in life, Bill. Rose is survived by brothers Mal (Dot), Stan “Cork” (Willie), Tom (Barb), Vic (Diana), and Ken (Donna); sisters Marj (Wayne) and Patsy (John); sons Bob (Christie), Rick (Janine) and Bruce (Shelley); daughters Leanna and Teresa (Craig); grandchildren Tyler (Angie) and Alisa (Eric), Michelle and Kelsey, and Chantelle and Brandon; and great grandson, Harrison.
Rose was born in Last Lake Alberta on December 13, 1935. As a teenager and with her family, she moved to Kamloops in 1948 where she was married in 1954 and settled in Quesnel to help run the family service station and restaurant business. She returned to Kamloops in 1957 and through until 1963 she continued to raise her family. Through the 1960’s and 70’s she was a partner in the family business in Kamloops, from service station to automotive dealership. She always considered Kamloops to be her home, although in the 1970’s there were several brief periods of living in the Cariboo. It was in Bridge Lake that Rose found another love; living close to nature and caring for the animals on the family ranch. Bridge Lake soon became another home, and at her request will be her final resting place; with nature, with the animals, and where she will forever be the free spirit that we have all known her to be.
Mom’s amazing wit and quick sense of humour was with her right up to her final days. She was a very generous person, always helping out where she could, and often lending a hand even to a complete stranger. Mom enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with family and friends. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandson was without condition and was unwavering. Mom, without your big and caring heart and your free spirit, we will feel a void; and it will not be easy to adjust to life without you.
The family wishes to thank Overlander Residential Care, including the staff and her doctor for the care and support provided to Rose during her final days.
At Rose’s request, there will be no memorial service. Family and friends will be requested to attend a gathering later in the Spring to celebrate Rose’s life and to share memories.
