May 13, 1932 – March 31, 2024  

Mary was born in Kamloops and lived the vast majority of her life here. Mary wed Ray Thomas in 1952 and, soon after, she and Ray built their home in Dallas where she lived happily for 67 years until her passing. Mary and Ray were one of the first to reside in Dallas and, in fact, it was in their living room that neighbours gathered to choose the name ‘Dallas’ for the community. 

Mary lost Ray in September of 2008. She is survived by three of her children – Carol Monk (Garry) of Vernon, Sandi Harris (Allan) of Kamloops, and John Thomas (Debbie) of Kamloops – as well as son-in-law Roy Hubel (Alice). She leaves behind three grandchildren – Brandon Harris (Tahni), Amanda and Nicole Thomas – and great-grandchild Jordan Butler. Mary was predeceased by husband Ray, daughter Donna and all 9 of her siblings (she held out until the last). 

Mary was a very special woman, and so loved by her family, including her grandchildren who doted on her and adored her. Mary was a homemaker first and foremost, raising her four children. She was one of their biggest supporters and, throughout the years, you would often find her on the sidelines cheering on her children and grandchildren in their many activities. Later, Mary also donated many, many hours of volunteer time working at Flutter Buys Thrift Store in memory of her husband, Ray. 

Mary looked back with fond memories of the many summers spent with family and friends at their cabin on Okanagan Lake. She considered those years as some of the best of her life, and during those years, the Thomas family forged a life-long bond with the Comazzetto family. Later Mary and Ray had the wonderful opportunity to share a cabin on Shuswap Lake where many happy hours were spent with the family. 

Should friends desire, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the Kamloops Hospice Association. 

As per Mary’s request, there will be no service.
