January 3, 1931 — August 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mafalda Porco (Mazzotta). Mafalda passed away at home on Sunday, August 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Fiore; daughter, Angela; parents – Bruno and Assunta; sister, Iolanda and brothers-in-law – Gabriele Mazzotta, Aurelio Cinel and Bruno Porco. Mafalda leaves behind her daughters, Silvana; Ivana (Dan) Baudin and grandson Michael – the light of her life. Also mourning her are her sisters, Anna Mazzotta; Antonietta (Serafino) Sartori; Franca Cinel; brothers Joe (Joanne); and Ector (Pat) Mazzotta; as well as sister-in-law Rosanna Porco; brother-in-law Settimio (Betty) Porco and their families.
Mafalda was born at home on Jan 3, 1931, in Lago, Cosenza, Italy. She married Fiore Porco – the love of her life – in Lago on October 22, 1955. Mafalda left Italy in 1955, along with her sister Iolanda and brother Joe for a better life. They came to Canada, worked and brought over her husband and other members of their family. She was a hard worker and managed, along with her husband Fiore, to raise three children. Mafalda was a dedicated lady to her family and was very proud of her family. She loved making meals and having people over. She was proud of her heritage, and would tell numerous stories of her “country” and her upbringing, and her life in Lago. She enjoyed her grandson Michael immensely, and showered him with love and compassion. She watched him grow up, which was her pride and joy. She loved attending any event he was in, from hockey, soccer to school events.
Mom/Nonna – Thank you for all you have done to make this a better world. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
