Lorraine Pottle

Posted Jan 30, 2025 | 11:15 AM

January 2, 1936 – December 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Pottle of Kamloops, B.C. who passed away on December 18, 2024, at 88 years of age. Those left to mourn the loss of Lorraine include her daughter Donna (Ron) Burkatsky, son Russell Pottle, grandchildren Ashley (Kevin), Lindsay, Matthew, great grandchildren Brayden and Kaylee, and remaining sibling: Henry Keller.

Lorraine is predeceased by her husband, Norman Pottle, her father Henry Keller, and mother Marie Keller, along with her other siblings: Frank, Pete, John, Annie, Katie, Mary, Elsie, Helen, Isabelle, and Lloyd.

Lorraine was born on January 2, 1936, along with her twin Lloyd on a homestead in Pierceland, Saskatchewan. Her father later built a house in 1938 on a few acres south of Pierceland and milked cows to sell milk. Lorraine’s parents and family sold their home and relocated to Oliver in B.C., then to Vancouver, then to Langley. Lorraine met her husband Norman while working in Williams Lake, B.C. and they were married on January 19, 1960, in Oliver, B.C. where they later had their first child, Donna, in 1962. After many other adventures and some hardships, Lorraine and Norman eventually settled on 10 acres in Barriere, B.C. Lorraine was a hard worker and worked for many years as a custodian at the school in Barriere. Eventually, Norman and Lorraine decided to simplify their life and sell their farm and move closer to their daughter in Kamloops, B.C.

Lorraine had many interests, including caring for their Arabian horses, farming, gardening, knitting, canning, and baking many delicious creations for family gatherings. Lorraine loved talking to her many siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews and always knew what was going on with her family as she loved to spend time with all of them. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her husband watching their many beloved sports teams including baseball, curling and hockey. They both enjoyed travelling far and wide to the prairies to their large family reunions, as that was often the highlight of their year.

Lorraine had an infectious smile and laugh, and especially loved being around her grandchildren and then her great grandchildren. She often showed her love by making and bringing her home cooking and baking, ensuring that no one was ever hungry. She also enjoyed talking about what life was like growing up on the homestead in Saskatchewan. Lorraine’s gregarious presence will be missed by all her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life is to be held at a later date.

You may offer a message of condolence at Cypress Funeral and Cremation Services for the Pottle family.
