Delmar Grant Lillico of Kamloops passed away on October 21, 2016 at 85 years of age. Survived by his loving wife Aurelia Lillico, and children Nimfa (Eddie) Valenzuela of Kamloops, BC, Arnold (Marilyn) Mendoza of Tarlac, Philippines, Rowena (Eric) Matabang of Mangatarem, Philippines, Sherilyn Mendoza of Makati, Philippines, Lailani (Carrick) Lai Edmonton, AB, Aileen (Irvin Tom) Tolentino of Kamloops, BC, Jessie Lillico of U.S.A. and Elaine Lillico of Hamilton, Ontario and his grandchildren, Brandon Lillico, Jordan Valenzuela, Gabriel Mendoza, Elijah Mendoza, Bristol Lia Tolentino, and Aiden Lucas Matabang and his sisters Eva and Jean. He was predeceased by his father, George Elmor Lillico and his mother, Mabel Edith Patterson.
Born in Bay Tree, Alberta, he served in the Canadian Air Force and Army. He eventually moved down to the United States to work for General Motors. After some time, he decided to move back to Canada, settling in Kamloops, where he would start his own plumbing and heating business. Delmar loved to travel and see the world. Delmar and Aurelia got married and both settled in Kamloops together in 1999. Delmar beat different types of cancer and thoroughly enjoyed life until he was diagnosed with Shy Dragger Syndrome. Delmar stayed at his home as long as he could with a live-in caregiver and his wife by his side. Eventually Delmar had to be taken to the Pine Grove Care Center where he spent the last of his days peacefully.
The Celebration of Delmar’s Life was held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Dellamont officiating.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Pine Grove Care Center and Doctor Philip Sigalet for the care that Delmar received. The family would also like to thank the staff at Kamloops Funeral Home for all their help during this difficult time.
