It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Garry Paul Leduc, at the age of 64, who slipped away as the sun rose on Aug. 14, 2016 at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C with his family by his side. Garry will be forever missed by his best friend and wife, Cheryl, daughters Christine (Dawson) and Sabrina, brothers Don (Lucie), Ken, and Kevin (Heather), numerous other family and friends as well as his pet companion Mindy.
Garry was predeceased by his father, Paul in 1984 and his mother Doris in 2003.
Garry was born in Edmonton, AB and moved to BC at the age 18 where he graduated from Vernon Senior Secondary and went on to enjoy a 30 year Career in the lumber industry until he was diagnosed with ALS in 2008 and forced to retire. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends in the outdoors camping, fishing, downhill and cross country skiing. He was a loving husband, father and a kind friend to all that knew him. His greatest gift to all was his smile.
The family extends its sincerest gratitude to Dr. Jill Calder, Dr. Sven Kip, Dr. Mike Marino and Dr. Bill Stinson, the nurses in the Emergency Department and stepdown unit as well as the respiratory therapists at Royal Inland Hospital, and most of all the ALS Society of BC who made Garry’s daily living easier. On behalf of Garry and herself, Cheryl wishes to express a sincere thank you to his many caregivers who showed him kindness and respect on a daily basis.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 11am at the Parkside Lounge, The Sandman Centre, 300 Lorne St., Kamloops BC
In Garry’s memory, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Society of British Columbia and Yukon (WWW.ALSBC.CA)
