September 5, 1933 – March 20, 2025 

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Laura Peragine on March 20, in the company of loved ones at Trinity Hospice. 

Mom, Nonna was born on September 5, 1933, in Sannicandro Di Bari, Italy. 

Laura was that last survivor of seven sisters and one brother. From an early age mom learned the value of a strong work ethic and above all the importance of family. Mom immigrated to Canada with her husband Michele, son Rocco and daughter Annette in 1958 and made North Vancouver home. Two more daughters were welcomed, Domenica (aka) Sandra and Dina, before a move to Kamloops in 1975. 

Mom was the matriarch and the anchor for the family, always willing to lend a helping hand, sage advice or an attentive ear. Mom was not only supporting of her immediate family but to neighbors, friends or anyone in her orbit. Her shoes undoubtedly will be impossible to fill. 

Laura was predeceased by her loving husband Michele and her seven sisters and first brother. She is survived by her son Rocco (Mary) of Burnaby, daughters Annette (Marvin) Hoshowski of Salmon Arm, Domenica (Kevin) Simpson of Kamloops, and Dina Johnson of Marysville, Washington. Nonna also leaves behind nine loving grandchildren and nine precious great grandchildren and one on the way. 

Funeral Mass to take place on Monday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. at “Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church.” Entombment for family will follow at Sage Valley Mausoleum, Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops. Refreshments will be served after mass at OLPH parish hall. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Mavis Hollman and the wonderful staff at Trinity Hospice for their kind, loving and exceptional care. We would also like to extent our gratitude to Schoening Funeral Home for their professional guidance.
