LARMAN, Eric Patrick
March 17, 1933 – August 31, 2016
Beloved husband of Wendy Larman, Lillooet, B.C.; father of Nancy (Tom), Craig and Cathy; grandfather of Haley, Hannah, Emily, Riley, Finley and Ronan. Eric loved the good things in life – he loved good conversation, cooking, a martini in the afternoon, and his home and land. Eric was born and raised in Montreal where he worked in the family business, Larman Motor Bodies. They designed and made truck bodies for the soft drink industry, as well as modifying vehicles for transporting Shriner’s Club handicapped children. He enjoyed car rallies, racing in his MG sports car, and he was very active in the Kiwanis Club of Montreal. Eric moved to Tsawwassen, B.C. in 1970 where he owned and operated two Esso Service Stations. He also volunteered at the Surrey Crisis Centre. In the early 1980s Eric met Wendy and they moved to a small acreage in remote Gold Bridge, B.C. where they built a house which he designed. Along with two friends whom he met at several Lifespring human development workshops, he enjoyed visiting the Alkali Lake Band to participate in the development of this program there. Eric’s passionate hobby of cooking led him to cook in a sheep hunting camp and part-time at Tyax Lodge. He loved to cook fine food for friends, families and neighbours for their special occasions, such as hosting three weddings in his and Wendy’s log home. Eric loved having visitors who would enjoy his quirky sense of fun. He was a character! Eric spent four years as a director in the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District. His last years were spent with Wendy in Lillooet where he cared for their Texas Creek acreage and designed another house for them. After developing dementia, “old-timers” as he called it, he moved to Kamloops Seniors Village, receiving excellent care. He died there peacefully. Any donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. There will be no service by request but a gathering of close friends and family at a later date.
