Barry James Kostering, 73, passed away quietly in his home in Kamloops, BC on Friday, August 26, 2016.
Barry was born December 7, 1942 at Lady Minto Hospital in Ashcroft, BC. to Eva (Ivy Kostering) Robillard. He was raised by his grandparents Charles and Mary Kostering in Clinton, BC and attended school there until he graduated in 1959. He married Linda Mucha on September 23, 1966 in Nakusp and had four wonderful sons Sean, Travis, Tyler and Darryl. After Barry graduated from school in Clinton he moved to Vancouver and worked at the CPR unloading cargo for two years. He then found a job as a surveyor at C.E. Scholtz High Energy Developers in Castlegar until 1968 when he moved to BC Hydro where he worked until he retired in 2003. Barry was a loyal member and volunteer of the Knights of Columbus, Christmas Amalgamated, St. Vincent de Paul Hospice, Out of the Cold, New Life Mission, and Young Life Canada among other charities.
In addition to his grandparents and parents, he is predeceased by a son, Darryl Kostering and his wife Linda. He is survived by his sons Sean, Travis and his wife Tanya, and Tyler, all of Chilliwack, his sisters Sandra Bowden and Debbie Gonvick, his grandchildren Brandon and his wife Carmon and Shailynn, his long-time friends Shirley Levesque and Linda McNiece.
A Service of Rememberance will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kamloops, BC on Monday, September 5th at 1pm. Interment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Clinton, everyone welcome on Tuesday, September 6 at 11am.
Donations may be made in memory of Barry to the Knights of Columbus care of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
