With sadness, the family of Kimiko Kika announce her passing on July 3, 2016 in Kamloops, BC. She died peacefully, surrounded by family.
Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Diane Kika, Melodye Kika, Christine (David) Dale all of Vancouver, Sharon Kika (Edward Dowling) and daughter-in-law, Janice Kika of Kamloops; son Frank (Barbara) Kika of Williams Lake; grandchildren, Kimiko Kika (Lucien Bellamy) of Nanaimo, Raiden (Braden) Kika of Williams Lake, Christian Dale of Vancouver; great-grandchildren, Emily, Claire, Jaxen, Lily, and Nell; sole-surviving sister, Anna Hofer of Medicine Hat and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Makoto (2001), son, Dennis (2011) and her five sisters.
Kimiko was a long-time resident of Westsyde where she raised her family. The Church of Cleopas was a great part of her life. When the children left home she showed her artistic talent, sewing and knitting for the grandchildren, creating pictures and cards from pressed flowers, folding 1000 paper cranes and even started watercolour painting at 94! In 2003, she moved to Greenfield Place where she met many new friends.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Greenfield Place for their kindness and warm friendship over the years. Also, deep gratitude is extended to the staff at Pine Grove Care Centre for their compassionate care of Mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. George’s Anglican Church (308 Royal Ave) with The Reverend Isabel C. Healy-Morrow officiating.
Should friends desire, donations may be made to the Kamloops Japanese Canadian Association (160 Vernon Ave) or the Pine Grove Care Centre (313 McGowan Ave) in memory of Kimiko.
