With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Gubbels of Kamloops, B.C. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. 

Father of Jody Fyfe (Bruce Bean), Jolie Calhoun (Sean), Morag McDowell, Nicholas Gubbels (Amber) and Tara Buckley (Jonah). Grandfather to Brandon, Justin, Braydon, Calin, Jorin, Lindsay, Aislinn, Kieran, Kian, Antony, Alicia, Adam, Zachery and Logan. Great-grandfather to Layla, Livia, Elena, Lydia, Dennis, Donnie and Sterling. 

Dear brother to the late John Gubbels (Ida), late Leo Gubbels (late Ann), late Peter Gubbels (Isabelle), Betty Deschamps (Don), the late Nellie Vandenhoogen (Bill), Frank Gubbels (Lisette), the late Louise Deschamps (Roger), and Hurb Gubbels (Bonnie). 

Predeceased by his parents John and Deanna Gubbels. 

A service in celebration of his life will be held this summer in Barrie, Ontario.
