Jordan A. Young

Posted Jul 29, 2025 | 9:34 AM

April 20, 1950 — July 10, 2025

In loving memory of Jordan A. Young It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jordan A. Young of Kamloops, BC. Most recently of St. Albert, AB. Dad left us peacefully, at Fort Saskatchewan Hospital, on July 10th, at the age of 75. He was surrounded by love and comfort in his final days.

Jordan lived his life to the fullest and was never afraid to take on a challenge or go against the grain. He always saw the beauty in everyone and everything. He deeply loved his family and friends and touched the hearts of countless with his unique sense of humour, gentle nature, brilliant mind and tenacity to never give up.

Jordan’s memory will forever be cherished by his daughter, Veronica, son, Jason (Sachie, Daichi and Maya), love of his life, Graciela; and his son-in-law, Nathan (and Hart Family); adoring grandchildren, Lucas and Sonia; sister, Valerie, whom he shared an extraordinarily special and empowering connection with; his eldest sister, Natasha, whom he learned of independence and toughness from; his sister, Dolly, whom he shared different views on religion and politics with, but cared for each other in a unique, dazzling way that only siblings can share; and sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Manuel. Jordan will forever be remembered by his beloved friends, especially, Hugh (and Family), Ken(Barb), Marianne(John), Mike(Jean), Cliff, Barry and Cindy to mention a few, along with many extended family and friends.

Jordan always saw the beauty in everyone and everything. He was passionate about human connection, computers, physics/mathematics, politics and photography. He admired music and languages, in a way that showed his appreciation for the complexity and beauty of life. Jordan didn’t sugar coat things; he stated things in a way that was logical and humorous.

He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Young, and father, Allan Alfred Young. Jordan is reunited with his eldest daughter, Amanda, as he mentioned, he planned to hug her tightly and celebrate with his beloved father-in-law Antonio, mother-in-law, Serafina and brother-in-law, John Loschiavo. Dad maintained a strong protectiveness and love for his sister, Kelly, and nephew, Daniel, who he held close to his heart. I envision Dad joining his loved ones, on the other side, and playing his “stereo” to uplift all those he loved.

Jordan started as an Instrument Technichian at Weyerhaeuser, in Kamloops in 1973 and returned in the spring of 1992, where he remained until his retirement in 2008, at the age of 58. Dad was often the ‘go-to-guy’ when it came to fixing the unfixable at the mill; he always said, “I’ll get it done right, but I can’t do a good job fast.” Jordan was also well known for his love and hobby of computers. A passionate project which he coined, ‘JAY’s Compusolver;’ a name that not only held meaning for himself, but for his son, Jason, too; they both shared the initials J.A.Y.. Much of the community, and friends of friends, would turn to Dad for tech support and assistance with updating or rebuilding their PCs. Dad took great pride and pleasure in teaching others how to speak computer, and was always a phone call away to make house calls for computer repairs and the like. One of Dad’s most esteemed idols was Carl Sagan; he resonated with his view on the vastness of the universe and our relative insignificance within it, urging us to cherish our planet and treat each other with kindness. Dad’s final words to me were, “I love you and be kind to each other.”

Jordan embraced the move of a lifetime, beginning on the 26th of October, 2024, and arriving on the 31st of October, 2024. He was aided by his adoring son-in-law, Nathan Hart, and niece, Carmen Loschiavo, nephew-in-law, Daniel, and great-nephew, Nicholas. Jordan spent eight special months surrounded by the love, comfort and joy of his daughter, son-in-law, love of his life, Graciela, and adoring grandchildren, Lucas and Sonia. Jordan connected with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, Dachi and Maya, via phone, photographs, email and instagram. Jordan always admired his son, Jason’s, talent when it came to making music videos via instagram, cataloging his hobbies of watch making/collecting, photography, coin collecting, sharing stories about his English school and fun adventures with his wife, Sachi, son, Daichie, and daughter, Maya.

Jordan wasn’t just my father, he was one of my best friends and favourite people on this planet. His patience, kindness, radiant smile and mischievous, twinkling eyes will be forever remembered. We used to say, “To the transporter: I love you to the moon and back again; to infinity and beyond!”

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all of Jordan’s chosen family and adored friends, who attended his Celebration of Life this past Saturday, July 26th, 2025, at Union Hall, UNIFOR, Local 10-B. Your patience, kindness, warm helpfulness has not gone unnoticed. We wouldn’t have been able to pull off such a beautiful tribute to Dad without your help! We are forever grateful to each and every one of you who contributed, in such meaningful ways, in Jordan’s Memorial Service. What an honour it was to share and connect with you all.

The family would, also like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital, University of Alberta Hospital, the Cross Cancer Institute, Dr. Ryan at the Sturgeon Walk-In Clinic, Ali and the St. Albert Palliative Home Care Team, as well as John at Bellerose Compounding Pharmacy and Chris Pratt at Pratt’s Compounding Pharmacy, who took such special care of Jordan and provided our family with such steadfast support. Your efforts, kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

Please consider making a donation to Bile Duct Cancer Research through the Cross Cancer Institute of Alberta or the Canadian Cancer Society, or any charity of your choosing in Jordan’s name.

Dad’s tenacity, warmth, inquisitiveness, joy, and quirky sense of humour will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. You will be forever missed, but never forgotten, Dad.
