March 13, 1944 – February 18, 2025
In loving memory of Jon Goforth, born Robert Jon Wayne Goforth, March 13, 1944.
Jon passed peacefully on February 18, 2025, at Trinity Hospice in Kamloops. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Jerilyn Goforth. Children: Dean (Cathy), Dale (Leona), Julie (Leo); grandchildren Natasha (Mike), Kyla (Jake), and brother Reg (Roxanne).
Jon had a massive love of all things cars. When Jon wasn’t doing car things, thinking about cars or reading about cars, he was working to support his family and his car habit. After the family moved from Paris, Ontario to the Kamloops area he began working at Tonto Drilling in Kamloops.
He also grew to love the sport of drag racing. He spent many weekends burning up fuel and rubber at numerous racetracks. Jon and a group of friends had the fantastic idea to turn a small road on McGill in Kamloops to a small drag strip. Kamloops Sport Racers was born and many people were introduced to the exciting sport of drag racing. Jon would help at the start line at every race and also raced his 1951 Anglia.
Jon and Jerilyn loved spending time in Arizona. In true Jon style, he made many friends in the car community there as well.
Jon always spoke so proudly of his racing days and the friendships he developed over the years.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Donations can be made in Jon’s memory to Trinity Hospice at Overlander RIH foundation memo: Overlander Trinity.
You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Goforth family.
