July 24, 1947 – March 9, 2019
It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Darwin Johnson on March 9, 2019. Born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, he and his family eventually settled in Invermere, B.C. He developed many skills throughout his life. He worked as a millwright most of his adult life as well as built and ran a successful campground near Little Fort, B.C. After retirement he volunteered with the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association where he accepted any job large or small. Darwin sat on their Board of Directors for a number years.
This remarkable man had a wonderful upbeat attitude about life, a generous and loving heart, a quirky sense of humour, an unforgettable radiant smile and twinkling blue eyes. Loving memories of Darwin will remain with his wife Patricia Paula, mother Isla Mae Broadfoot, sons Norman (Maaike) Brown, and Ryan Brown, grandchildren Lucy, Leni, Roewin and Myelo, sisters Sharon (Carl) Rauch, Lynda (Steve) Malinoski, Charlene (Fred) Miller, and brother Gordon (Toni) Broadfoot. Family who left this earth before him are his father Norman Nicholas Johnson, brother Daryl Johnson and sister Heather Johnson.
Also mourning his loss are his Aunt Alice Stewart, many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family of friends, neighbours, and colleagues.
A Celebration of Darwin’s life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the North Thompson Fall Fair Agriplex in Barriere, B.C. at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are being made through Drake Cremation & Funeral Services.
