May 19, 1947 – December 13, 2025 

December 13, 2025, our family had to say goodbye to a good man, a great husband, a loving and supportive father James (Hamish) Alexander Mitchell. 

Jim was born in Burntisland, Scotland on May 19, 1947, as his father served in the military, then his parents brought him home to Canada shortly after. He spent his early years surrounded by his loving extended family on the farm near Carberry, Manitoba, later moving into the St James neighbourhood of Winnipeg. He had a great love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing and canoeing, and he shared his enthusiasm with his children. He went on some worldly adventures in his youth that took him to a number of destinations throughout Europe, Africa as well as the far east. He also was an avid golfer, until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019, and slowly had to give it up due to balance issues.  But his love for the game endured. 

Jim worked for the telephone company from a very early age, starting in Manitoba, and landing in Kamloops for the remainder of his career with Telus, I know he will be greatly missed by his longtime partner Ron Hamilton and his wife Tammy. He made some long and endearing friendships during his time with Telus and I’m sure there are lots of shared stories and memories during those years. 

James was the oldest of three children, he leaves behind two sisters, Nancy Sabo (Arthur) and Susan Baryluk (Marty). He will be missed by his loving wife of 20 years, Carol D. Mitchell (her son Cole Moon, wife Cheryl, grandsons Noah and Brayden) his amazing daughter Jacey Mitchell, grandson Keithan Mitchell, and, a talented metalwork/leather/wood artist, his son Darian Mitchell.  He was immensely proud of his family and will always be in our hearts.

A calming comes, eyes relax
The smile starts as time ends
Pain has gone, peace flows
