February 23, 1941 – November 8, 2018
James S. Jago died on November 8th, 2018 in Kamloops. He was born in Hastings, New Zealand, on 23rd February, 1941, and emigrated to Canada with his wife and family in 1979. Educated at Napier Boys’ High School, he remained a proud alumnus all of his life.
In the early 80s he established his own industrial piping and fabrication company in Vancouver (Challenge Mechanical), and was well known in the field of construction. He was ‘good neighbour Jim’ to many in his local area of Heffley Creek, and enjoyed raising purebred Romney sheep on his own small acreage.
He treasured the friendships engendered by using his mechanical know-how in repair and fabrication for anyone who needed it. A longtime “honorary Catholic” at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Heffley Creek, he rejoiced in the friendship and community of that congregation. Being a New Zealander rugby was his game and passion. He played semi-professional rugby in Hastings and was also a talented cricketer. He loved hunting in his beloved New Zealand hills, and was an accomplished rifleman and horseman
James was predeceased by his son, Lloyd James, and is survived by his loving wife Sarah, and daughters Vanessa and Marian.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 19th, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Kamloops.
Jim would prefer that in lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his memory to the Kelowna Cancer Lodge which provided him with superb support and help in overcoming cancer several times.
