February 10, 1958 – August 15, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce that Ian took his life on August 15, 2020 in Pritchard, BC.

Ian will be dearly missed by this son David (Stephanie), granddaughters Piper, Jemma and Katey. Sister, Leeann (Barry), nephews Brian, Rob and Kyle. Brother, Jim (Tanis). Geraldine, step-daughter Crystal (Rob) and granddaughters Natalie and Kiarra.

Ian was born in Burnaby, BC. to Bob and Mary Lee Cripps. He moved to Ashcroft with his family when he was 15 years old. Later he lived in Kamloops, then Pritchard. Ian retired as a millwright from Highland Valley Copper after 41years of service.

Ian was loving, kind, honest and caring. He was also giving and enjoyed his volunteer work in the community. Ian could put a smile on your face in seconds. His heart ached for those who were less fortunate and would freely offer kind words and cigarettes to the homeless. He was so grateful for his good fortunes.

Nobody could catch fish like Ian. His smoked salmon was the best! He was also successful on his many fishing excursions in Mexico. As he would say, “it was phenomenal”.

Ian faced many challenges in his life. We are proud of his dedication to AA and AN and the success he found there. Although Ian did not have the COVID virus, he was a victim of this terrible pandemic. His AA meetings were his life-line and that was taken away. Ian’s family would like to thank the support groups and friends who were there for Ian over the years. Special thank you to Ron and Lucy who were always there for him.

Ian’s charity of choice is The Mustard Seed, 181 Victoria Ave., Kamloops BC. V2C 5L7 In lieu of flowers donations to The Mustard Seed or charity of your choice in Ian’s memory would be appreciated. We regret that due to the Corona Virus we are only able to have a small, private service.
