December 20, 1929 – November 26, 2016
Audrey Horner passed away peacefully, with family at her side on November 26th 2016.
Her life was well lived as a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Audrey’s loving spirit is survived by her daughter, Margaret (John) Vaupel; her son, Allan (Janice) Horner and their two children Cory Horner, Robyn (Ian) Ferguson, great grandchildren Audrey & Kate Ferguson; her daughter Brenda (Blaine) Matuga and their two children Lindsey & Colton Matuga; her sister in laws; Maxine Horner, Elaine Hodgins and Marj Hodgins-Smith, and her brother in law George Horner. Cherished yet are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Ralph Horner of 60 years, her parents Margaret and Allan Hodgins, as well as her brothers Leonard and James Hodgins, and in-laws Margaret and Fred Willan.
Audrey was the second child of Margaret and Allan Hodgins of Chilliwack, BC.
Raised in the Fraser Valley she went on to Kamloops after leaving the family farm. The move was meant to be, as she met the Love of her life, Ralph Horner. Audrey attended the Royal Inland School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. Many a family member benefited from her nursing skills.
Audrey and Ralph enjoyed frequent travels visiting family in BC and Saskatchewan, plus longer vacations camping and exploring Canada.
Audrey treasured her family. The addition of four grandchildren and two great grandchildren was a precious delight, of whom Grandma loved each dearly.
Our gratitude goes to her friends and the staff at Berwick on the Park for the years of pleasure and enjoyment our Mom had there.
The Family would also like to thank the medical Community for the outstanding care and attention she received.
A Celebration of Audrey’s Life will be held and announced on a later date.
