August 31, 1926 – January 9, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bernice May Hoopfer. Bernice was born in Moose Jaw, SK, on August 31, 1926, and was raised in Burns Lake, BC. After finishing her schooling in the Vancouver area, she married and raised her four children in Kitimat and the Lakes District and Bulkley Valley Area. She shared many fond memories with her children and grandchildren at different places on Babine Lake. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, and competitive scrabble and crib games, as well as walking in Enderby where she spent her last years before going to care homes in Vernon (Noric House) and Kamloops (Gemstone Care Center). A special thank you to the nurses and staff at those places.
She is survived by her sister, Ena Osatuik, her sons Bill Rutherford (Belen), of Inuvik, NWT, John Rutherford (Ellie), of Kamloops, BC, and daughter Teresa, of Surrey, BC, as well as nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and may other relatives and good friends.
Bernice was predeceased by brothers Walley, Clareny and sister Ivy, as well as daughter Lee and granddaughter Deanna.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the St. Andrews United Church in Enderby, BC, on May 4th, 2019 at 11:00 am.
