It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Henderson announce her passing after a courageous battle with cancer. Sharon will forever be remembered and dearly missed by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Allan, sisters Debra (Howard), Barbara (Doug), brother David (Jodi), sister-in-law Elizabeth (Richard), brothers-in-law Jeff (Candi), Ron (Laurie), nieces and nephews Christopher, Jennifer, Michael, Rebecca, Stephanie, William, Jacob, Iain, Sierra, Xander, Andrew, Nikki, Megan, father-in-law Stan (Kathy), uncles Bud (Louise), Jim (Anne), aunts Eunice, Joyce, Ruth and Norma, honorary Aunt Marjorie, numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear school friends, Denise (John), Dale (Gary), lifelong pen pal, Britt, and many more close friends too numerous to mention. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Don and Norma, her uncles Cliff, Wes, George, Lionel, Arthur, Russ and aunts Betty and June.
Sharon was born and lived in Brandon, MB, until her family moved to Winnipeg in 1967, where she graduated from Grant Park High School and then the Success Business College as a Legal Secretary. Al and Sharon were married September 29, 1979 and moved to Edmonton shortly thereafter. Sharon was a very hard worker at home and outside of her lovely homes. She took great pride in their beautiful homes, which Sharon decorated herself with such joy, talent and skill. Her stunning flowers and vegetable gardens were the envy of the neighbourhoods. Sharon devoted her career to her passion, which was the worker’s rights. She spent a life time working within the labour movement where she was very well respected. Several of Sharon’s employers and coworkers from her many Winnipeg and Edmonton workplaces became close friends. She never lost touch with those near and dear to her heart. Sharon loved the acreage lifestyle, the fresh country air, and the peacefulness surroundings of nature. She adored all her pets, their farm critters and the wildlife. The mountains were Sharon’s favourite vacation destination. Visiting Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper on many occasions, it became Sharon’s dream to live near the mountains someday. In the summer of 2018, Sharon and Al moved to Barriere, BC to live out her dream, surrounded by beautiful mountains. Sharon’s gentle soul touched so many. Her delightful laughter, her fun sense of humour brought smiles to every face and heart who were blessed with her company. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sharon’s Celebrations of Life will be held in the summer months at Bridge Lake (BC), Sherwood Park area (AB), and Minnedosa (MB) where Sharon will be laid to rest. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sharon’s name to Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9. Ph. (250) 372 1336
