Helen Piers, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on July 31, 2024, at Pine Grove Care Home in Kamloops surrounded by loving staff and family. Born in Pulp River, Manitoba on May 22, 1924, Helen lived a remarkable life marked by resilience, compassion and dedication to her family.
Helen witnessed a century of change and challenge, from the tumultuous times of war to the strides of modern progress. Her strength and warmth were a beacon to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Gordon Piers and a loving Mother to her children Teresa, Yvonne and Alex (Alice) and her stepchildren Jim (Penny) and David (Valerie).
Her legacy lives on through her son, Alex, and her numerous grandchildren who carry forward her spirit and values. Helen is predeceased by her husband Gordon, her sisters Celia and Francis, her Daughters Teresa and Yvonne and her Granddaughter Cindy. Helen’s life was characterized by her unwavering faith and dedication to her heritage and her boundless love for her family. She was known for her kind heart, adventurous spirit, and the wisdom she imparted to those around her. Helen had many passions; including hunting; fishing; gardening; cross country skiing; camping; travelling and snowshoeing. She was also known for her knitting and crocheting, which won many awards in B.C. and Washington, as well as her love of gambling!
Helen’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, but her memory will forever be cherished. The family would like to thank all of those who cared for Helen in her later years. A service will be held at Trinity United Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 14, 2024, with a reception to follow at The Boardroom.
Helen Piers will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
