It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alton Wayne (Red) Heath. Sunrise: February 20th, 1930, Melita, Manitoba. Sunset: June 2nd, 2016, Kamloops, BC.
Red is survived by Peggy, his loving Wife of 60 years and their Children& Grandchildren: Sue (Jim) Bepple, Angela Bepple (Brendan Walsh), Brent Bepple (Jenn Schroeder); Mike (Linda) Heath, Jenna (Shaun) Quiring, Kayla Heath (Trace Tower) and Laurel (Peter) Segaric, Mark Segaric & Devon Segaric. Also left to cherish Red’s memory are his great grandchildren: Owen, Jace, Greyson and Hazel Quiring; his Brother Bill Heath, Sister Heather (Stu) Winter, Sister-in-law Cheryl Heath, Brother-in-law Mike (Vicki) MacMillan, Cousins: Barrie (Darlene) Bueckert and Judy (Vic) Birkheim, as well as many Nieces, Nephews & their families that he spoke of fondly.
Red was predeceased by his Father Clare, Mother Mary, Stepmom Ivy, Brother Dan and Peggy’s parents Don & Evelyn MacMillan.
Red was a gentle caring man, who loved his family and friends. He lived a busy life full of family, work & play, but always made time to help others when they called upon him. Red loved to compete (ok……win), but was also a gracious loser & honest sportsman. He loved to tell a story and was always prepared with something that had recently happened around him, or most likely, to spread the humour from a well told joke he had just heard! Red enjoyed the outdoors, loved being physically active and always held a special place in his heart for Johnson Lake, where many a good time happened and of course, many a future story and joke came from.
Red was blessed to enjoy 29 years of retirement with Peggy and it was well spent in the early years, with them enjoying trips to: Hawaii, Toronto, Alaska, as well as many local camping and fishing trips, to areas both familiar and those new to explore. They also spent many pleasurable hours with their Children, grandchildren and families and we will not soon forget how lucky we were to know him and love him as part of our families. Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather. He did it well!
We will all miss you Papa!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cottonwood Centre (North Shore Comm. Centre) at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 6th, 2016. Memorial donations may be made to Kamloops Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
