October 13, 1951 – April 14, 2024
It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Harold Dreyer, on April 14, 2024 in Kamloops, BC.
Harold is survived by his loving wife Dianne; children Alexis Dreyer (Rob Gallacher) and Tristan Dreyer (Haruka); step-sons Corey Thompson (Sara) and Scott Thompson (Stacey); and grandchildren Keira, Sam, Taisho, Elise and Connor; sisters Inge Franke and Rita Drummond (Robert); nephews, nieces and many dear friends.
Harold was born in Medicine Hat but most of his young life was spent growing up in Prince George, British Columbia. He later attended the University of Victoria, and in 1975 graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School.
Harold and his first wife, Marie, moved to Kamloops in 1975 where he began to article with Fulton & Company. He found the challenge he was looking for and quickly impressed clients and workmates with his “can do” attitude. He developed deep roots in the community and retired as a senior partner at Fulton in 2015.
As well as the countless hours spent working in his career, Harold was very involved with family life, and his children’s sports and activities. He enjoyed skiing and golf just to keep balanced.
In 2003 Harold and Dianne met. Harold was never one to wait too long for anything, so that year they bought a house, moved in together and married a year later. They enjoyed many wonderful trips, sometimes just the two of them and often with other friends. In 2010 they bought a home in Surprise, Arizona and were able to enjoy winters there to the fullest. At the time, Harold was in heaven because this was a place that had 4 golf courses. But then everyone knows what happened when Harold discovered pickleball. He was always at his happiest with paddle in hand. Harold excelled in that sport and loved being with his many pickleball friends in Arizona, Kamloops and Caravans West.
Harold was simply the kindest, most energetic, positive and optimistic person one could ever meet. He always showed interest in other people and truly cared about what was going on in their lives. He was a wonderful father, stepfather, brother, son-in-law, and best Opi to his grandchildren. He loved absolutely everyone in his blended family. Friends, business partners, golf buddies, pickleball pals….you all meant so much to Harold. We will all miss him – always and in all ways.
Per Harold’s request, there will be a private family gathering at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Harold’s wish was for any donations to be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
