Alan was born on April 12, 1933 in Princeton BC, and passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86 on May 4, 2019 in Clearwater BC.
Alan Hansen was a treasured member of the community for many years. Born in Princeton, Alan migrated to the Clearwater Valley in the early 1960’s. He settled in the valley and worked in various bush jobs in the area forestry camps. Alan spent many years working in Camp 2 as a machinist. He was well known throughout the valley for his welding and machining skills and the ability to make anything work even if it seemed impossible.
On April 5, 1957 Alan married Margaret Louise Martin and began a marriage that lasted 35 years. Alan and Margaret had 5 children and lived for several years in the Clearwater flats after which they moved to Sunshine Valley where they lived until 1992 when Margaret passed away. After several years Alan met and married Faye Bond. They enjoyed many years of companionship and travel until Faye passed away in Oct 2015. Alan enjoyed many years of camping and fishing with family and friends at the various lakes in the Clearwater area.
Alan was predeceased by his son, Ed in January 2012. He is survived by his children: Leroy (Leslie), Ray (Judy), Anna (Ian) and Hans (Esther) along with 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held in Alan’s honor later this summer. Memorial contributions can be made in Alan’s name to the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater, BC.
