November 9, 1934 ~ December 1, 2017
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Goossen, after a short illness at Royal Inland Hospital on December 1, 2017.
Janet is survived by her daughter Nicolle Valda Atherton (Niki) and two grandchildren, Ashley Valda Van Buuren, and James Daniel Xaver Van Buuren of Calgary; a brother, Fred Clark, cousin Louise Andrykew and many beloved friends.
Born in Royal Inland Hospital in 1934, she proclaimed that she was a gypsy at heart as she lived in many areas in BC in her younger years until she made Kamloops her home.
She worked at G.A. Kirk Collection Agency and Canada Post for many years with her own route to Paul Lake and Pinantan Lake.
A Reflection of Time
I was never old and cranky
I was ‘seasoned’ and ‘direct’
Of course I knew all your names
I just ‘liked’ to call you ‘TIT’
I lived my life most every day
With a smile and maybe a beer
So don’t mourn me because I’m gone
Celebrate that I was ‘here’
Dedicated by Rose-Marie
Her love for the Flea Markets and playing cards kept her going where she met so many people and they all became friends. Janet was known for her hats of many colours, also for her flamboyancy and bling, making her one of a kind.
At Janet’s request there will be no service but there will be a memorial in the Spring and spreading of ashes (a date will be decided and all are invited).
The family would like to express thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses who provided such wonderful care to Janet.
