September 22, 1959 – March 8, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our big brother, uncle, and great uncle, Giovanni (John) DeCicco; born in 1959 in Kamloops to Rosalia and Michele DeCicco. John never moved from Kamloops and had many friends and family who love him dearly. John will be fondly remembered by his brothers Nick (Linda), Domenic, Vito (Margaret), and sister Marianne (Rick) Dietrich. John will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews Nicole (Malakai), Gabby (Ryan), Sasha (Matt), Brayden, Ben, and Kirstynn. John had six great-nieces and nephews: Zara, Bradley, Rome, Luca, Kai, Shia, as well as many pets who he loved dearly. He adored them and was always thrilled when they were around him.
John moved to Riverbend a few years ago and enjoyed the residents there who fondly referred to him as “Little John”. John was the official scorekeeper weekly for his favorite local men’s rec hockey team “Kamloops Thunder”. He could always be found at the scorekeepers’ bench happily watching while keeping score.
Many will remember John for his years working at The Big Boot Inn, retrieving shoes for those who were looking for something new. Special thanks to Frank and Renza DiGeso and John and Marion DiGeso for taking care of him over the years. The family would also like to thank Dora and Ralph Sherbo for their companionship to John. John was happiest during Blazer season where he rarely missed a game and until recently would occasionally travel with the fan bus to out-of-town games. He loved those Blazers, having been a season ticket holder since their inception.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Society.
You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the DeCicco family.
