September 2, 1949 – April 28, 2016
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ross Giles on April 28th, 2016 with his loving wife & soulmate by his side. Ross fought his illness with dignity for many years and somehow maintained his great sense of humor until the very end. He is survived by Catherine, his wife of 40 years, his two children Tannis (Nick) Scott and Lloyd (Jolene) Giles. His memory will be treasured by his six grand-children Monique, Marissa, Colby, Aeverie, Mayson & Amelia. They all brought such joy to Ross’s life and he enjoyed every minute with all of them. He is also survived by his brother Johnny and sister Mary.
Ross was born September 2, 1949 in Cayuga, Ontario. He moved to BC in 1969 and worked a few mines before he got on with Lornex which later became part of Highland Valley Copper. He eventually became a supervisor in the mill and he was with the company for 42 years. Ross loved his job and his family. He had a soft quiet personality and a great sense of humor which will be missed by all his family and friends.
A celebration of life is planned for July 9th at 4004 Davie Road, in Rayleigh at 1:00pm. Please bring your own lawn chair. No flowers please, if you wish you may certainly donate to your favorite charity in his name. Ross always encouraged assistance for those that are less fortunate.
