1939 – January 30, 2025 

On January 30th, 2025, after a short but severe illness, Geoffrey John Eggleton bravely and graciously left us surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, his sons Ian and Trevor and his grandchildren, Nathan, Kaya and Lilia. 

Geoff was born in 1939 in London, England. While his father was stationed during WWII he was raised by his mother and family in Ramsbury, in the county of Wiltshire. In 1947 Geoff’s brother, Roger, was born and a few years later the family moved to Vancouver, B.C. where Geoff’s father was appointed as British Trade Commissioner for several years. Geoff decided to move to Canada permanently in 1961 where he completed his University education at UBC. After graduating, he married Ann Barclay in 1963 with whom he had two sons. He built a career in social work in British Columbia advancing to the position of Regional Director for the Ministry of Children and Family Development in Kamloops until his retirement in 1995. 

Geoff was a man of many passions including golf where he was a well-known member of the Kamloops Golf & Country Club. He also coached hockey during the 70s, 80s and 90s during which time he co-coached the Bantam AAA Blazers to become Provincial Champions in 1986 and the Kamloops Women’s AA to become Provincial Champions in 1991. 

In 1991 he remarried to Judy Lorinczi with whom he spent 35 wonderful years of adventure, travel and golf, wintering in Mexico for the last 23 years. Geoff was known as an avid golfer full of energy, wit and humour. His Friends remember his hearty laughter, his sense of humour and the smiles and joy that he brought into people’s lives. He leaves behind a huge loss in the hearts of his friends and family. He was a shining star in a room and always radiated a presence filled with life. He was known for always being courteous, welcoming and a charming host. As one of his friends said: “our world is lessened greatly with his passing”. 

Thank you to Dr. Kruger and the staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice for their kind and professional care of Geoff during his final days. A small private service for family will be held in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kamloops SPCA.
