January 3, 1987 – August 1, 2025 

It is with great sadness that we announce that Gale Mountain Chief from Merritt, B.C. was called home on August 1, 2025 at the age of 38. 

Gale’s survived by her parents, Arnie & Vivian Narcisse, sister, Wenona Bearshirt (Leonard), twin sister, Andrea Ritchie (Tommy), brothers Nathan Narcisse & Montana Mountain Chief. 

Nephews: Garrett Mike, Liam Bearshirt, Garrison Mountain Chief, Joshua Mountain Chief, Montana Mountain Chief Jr, Isiah Mountain Chief, Emery Brown, Jayden Douglas, Ryden Douglas. 

Nieces: Kelsey Bearshirt & Selena Narcisse 

Great nephews: Benjamin Mike, Maverick Mike, Jayson Mike 

Gale was a vibrant, smart, humble person with so many talents. Gale was the youngest of the five children. She grew up expressing and exercising her way of life. She believed in Jesus, prayed in the sweat lodge, peyote meetings, prayed on the land and at the water. Gale spent a lot of time out on the land, fishing with her family and when she wasn’t picking berries she was shopping to help with catering. 

Gale went to NVIT to be a chef and was accepted into BCIT for the British Columbia Land Surveyors. Gale was on her way to become the first female for BCLS. She was always good at math and used that to quickly understand the fundamentals of land surveying. Everyone was amazed at how quickly she came to learn these things. BCIT was fully prepared to accept her into their program. 

Gale was a champion fancy dancer. When people think of Gale, they most often speak of what a great fancy shawl dancer she was. And she was as beautiful and graceful as a butterfly. She danced with fire desire to be the best. 

Out of her many roles and accomplishments in life, her greatest role in life was being Aunty Gale to her bubs who she called her nieces and nephews. Gale lived a short life. But it was a life full of accomplishments and achievements. She was on her way to be many more. But it was just not meant to be. She will be missed dearly by family and friends. 

Gale is now reunited with her loved ones. Grandparents, Amy Mike & Frank Manuel, Mabel Narcisse (Frank) & Garrett Mountain Chief.
