June 1, 1934 – October 11, 2016

On October 11, 2016 in the early morning hours at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice, Mary passed away peacefully in her sleep with her children by her side. Mary was born in Rogliano, Cosenza, Italy on June 1, 1934 and immigrated to Canada on June 3, 1953 at the age of 19 along with her mother Erfida and younger brother Mike where they joined brothers Paul and Tony in Thunder Bay, Ontario.There Mary met Perry and they married in 1958. They moved to British Columbia in 1964 and eventually settled in Kamloops.
Mary was a devoted wife and loving mother to her four children. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Can-Ital Ladies. Mary’s life revolved around her family and many friends. Her passion for cooking and baking brought many together for a simple dinner or a large festive celebration. 
Mary is survived by her four children Terri (Dave), Diane (Charlie), Susan (Kevin), Paul (Kathy), grandchildren JJ, Brandon, Cole, Melissa, Michelle, Joey, Carley, Jared and Kyle, great-grandchildren Parker and Bentley, her brother Mike Garofalo (Thunder Bay, Ontario), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Mary is predeceased by her husband of 56 years Perry, parents Santo and Erfida Garofalo, sisters Stella Garofalo (Francesco), Pierina (Carmen) Garofalo, brothers Tony (Ceccina) and Paul (Rita) Garofalo, brothers and sisters-in-law Tony and Cesira Frasca and Nicolina Garofalo.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Mavis Hollman and staff for the many, many years of loving care and kindness they have always given, as well as the special staff at Hospice, they are all truly angels.

Prayers will be held Sunday, October 16th, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH). The service will be held on Monday, October 17th, 2016 at 11:00 am at OLPH.
