Born May 5, 1968 in Kamloops, BC passed away peacefully on March 26, 2017. Survived by mother Caroline Fortier nee Larue/Casimir, spouse Michael Black; sisters Edith Fortier, Yvonne Fortier (Kevin), Josie Fortier; brothers Hubert E. Fortier (Alona), Leslie Fortier, Ivan Fortier; nephews Christopher Terry Jr, Hubert Jr, & Brendan; nieces Dawn, Tawny and great nieces Kyra & Justice; great nephews Cyrus & Declann; great, great nephew Silas and numerous relatives.
Predeceased by: father Clarence Fortier, brother Charles Eugene Fortier, sister Theresa Lynne Fortier; grandmothers: Mathilda Sisiouloux, Frances Casimir; grandfathers: Edgar Fortier, Hubert LaRue; numerous aunts, uncles and relatives.
Denise was soft-hearted, considerate, supportive, gentle, caring and loving to her partner, family and friends, she always put everyone first. She loved to tease and joke around just to make people smile. She knew how to say things to make a person feel special and never forgot someone’s birthday, accomplishments or just because. Denise would search for the perfect gift, straight from her loving heart, and was generous with her time. She loved to vacation in Nelson as it was peaceful and she loved the beautiful scenery. She was a truly wonderful soul, who will be sorely missed. She was a member of the Kamloops Art Gallery and Western Canada Theatre. She was employed as an Administration Clerk at the Tk’emlups Rural Policing Detachment office, secretary at Tk’emlups Lands Department and Kamloops Friendship Centre, volunteered as Auxiliary Constable and loved music & gardening.

Reception to follow at 12:00 pm at Hotel 540 Rivers Room, 540 Victoria St, Kamloops, BC
No viewing by request – Cremains burial at a later date.
