October 6, 1933 – July 10, 2026
Evelyn Dickson was born on October 6, 1933, in Calgary, Alberta, and passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, in Kamloops. Evelyn lived a life defined by love, curiosity, and deep devotion to her family.
She met her husband, Dale, in Calgary, and together they embarked on a lifetime of adventure — moving to Vancouver in their early twenties, returning home to marry, and eventually settling in Kamloops in 1970 with their three daughters. Evelyn embraced every chapter of life with energy and heart, whether she was working in hospitality, at CFCN television, in insurance, or later in administrative roles.
Evelyn loved CFL football, cheering loudly for the Calgary Stampeders and the BC Lions. Meeting Wally Buono was a moment she treasured. She also loved to travel — from riding on the back of Dale’s motorcycle, to camping trips, Hawaii, Caribbean cruises, and exploring the Maritimes with her girls.
Her greatest passion was reading. Evelyn believed deeply in the power of literacy and volunteered with Literacy in Kamloops to help children discover the joy of books. She passed that love to her daughters, who carry it proudly.
She was also passionate about cooking, reading cookbooks for inspiration and joy. Her family fondly remembers the many recipes she experimented with and perfected over the years.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Dale, her parents Lily May and Giovanni, her brother Gordon (Audrey), and her sister Patricia (Harry; Len). She is survived by her daughters Donna, Doraine, and Donell (Frank), granddaughters Meagan (Max) and Danielle (Amin), two great grandchildren, and a large extended family.
She spent her final years at Kamloops Seniors Village, where she received exceptional, compassionate care — something her family will always be grateful for. Evelyn will be remembered as warm, loving, passionate, and fiercely devoted to those she loved.
The family will not be holding a service. To honour Evelyn’s lifelong love of reading, donations to Raise a Reader, directed to the Kamloops community, would be deeply appreciated.
