It is with great sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father & Nonno, Emilio Costantino on June 08, 2024.

Emilio Costantino of Kamloops, BC since 1957, peacefully passed away on June 08, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 27, 1932, in Grimaldi, Cosenza Italy, Emilio was the third youngest child of Antonio and Maria Costantino. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers Frank (Carmela) and Augustino (Ida), and sisters Erminia (Oliver) and Iolanda.

Emilio is survived by his loving wife Gilda, his son Antonio (Livia), his daughters Loridana (Peter) and Melina, his granddaughters Natalina (Robbie) and Alyssa, his son Tony Burgo (Mirella), granddaughter Maria (Gary), grandson Adriano (Candace), and great-grandsons Morgan and Caleb, brother in law Tony Guido as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

At the age of 92, Emilio remained incredibly active, tending to his garden and crafting homemade wine, Italian meats, and sauces. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years, and cherished family vacations, especially camping trips to the Shuswap and Harrison Hot Springs. Emilio had a deep passion for art, music, dancing and singing, particularly relishing in his cultural Italian folklore songs.

In 1957, Emilio immigrated to Canada via naval ships that journeyed from Italy to the Port of Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He then made his way to Kamloops, BC via rail to reunite with his immediate family who was already there. Thankfully for Emilio, his father Antonio had secured him a job with the CN rail to work alongside himself and his brothers. He then transitioned to a career in construction with Max Daburger, and ultimately retired from the City of Kamloops.

On June 08, 2024, we lost our beloved husband, father, nonno, zio & friend to all he met. Emilio was proud to share his deeply rooted love of his Italian culture through food and celebrations with all family and friends.

We extend our heartfelt invitation to join us in commemorating his deep appreciation for friendship and community at his memorial services. Please join us for prayers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on June 14, 2024, at 7:00pm, and for Funeral Services on June 15, 2024, also at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, at 1:00pm. For the entombment, the immediate family kindly requests the presence of family members only. After the entombment, we welcome you to gather with his family at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Centre to celebrate his life with light snacks and refreshments. As an alternative to flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be directed to the Kamloops Hospice Association (Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice) in honor of Emilio’s memory.
