December 17, 1945 — November 7, 2023
On November 7, 2023, after a vigorous battle with cancer, Gail took her last breaths at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice after enjoying a final family dinner, a family tradition that was dear to her heart.
Gail was born December 17, 1945, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, to Samuel and Elva Reid. Her family moved many times to follow her dad’s work. It brought them to Field, Lytton, and finally Merritt, B.C.
Gail married the love of her life, Ed Pilon, in Merritt on October 9, 1965. They raised their family in Ashcroft, B.C., until 1985 when they moved to Kamloops. They had three children, Neil, Roni and Vicki. Gail and Ed spent 35 wonderful years of marriage before he passed away on August 5, 2000.
Gail was also pre-deceased by her parents, Samuel and Elva, her sister, Darlene, her in-laws Victoria and Amie, brother-in-law, Bert, and her sister-in-law, Frieda.
Gail will be lovingly remembered by her son, Neil Pilon (Raffelina) and daughters Roni (Larry) Mauvieux and VIcki (Preston) Hanson, her seven grandchildren; Taylor (Makaila), Kayley, Sammie (Evan), Brennan, Janaya, Jacob, and Sara (Devon). The memory of her wil be kept alive for her three great grandchildren, Isabelle, Ameilia, and Eloise. Her large extended family of “outlaws” in Saskatchewan, and many of her own cousins, nieces and nephews will also cherish their memories of her.
While living in Ashcroft, Gail not only was raising a family, but also working full-time as a branch manager for CIBC, and continued banking as a loans officer when they moved to Kamloops. After she was done working for CIBC, Gail was lucky enough to spend her retirement with her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She also enjoyed volunteering countless hours at Overlander Extended Care.
Gail loved animals all of her life, and had a variety of dogs and cats throughout. Toby was her final companion and he followed her around with her flower baskets and spent many hours in the garden with her tending to her flowers and plants. Gail and Toby had an avid social life with all her friends that lived in the Orchard Court complex, where she attended daily walks and many happy hours and tea’s.
Gail was fortunate enough to be blessed with three great grandchildren who loved her very much. They were the new sparkle in her eyes.
In lieu of flowers, Gail would appreciate donations to either the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice or the BC Cancer Society.
You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Pilon family.
