It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved little boy, Elliott Fox Hughes, following a short but mighty battle with DIPG brain cancer. Elliott passed away at the age of 7, peacefully embraced in his Mama’s arms with his Dad right by his side, on December 31st, 2024 at Canuck Place – Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford BC.

Elliott was born July 6th, 2017 to his parents Deanna Hagerman and Dylan Hughes in Kamloops BC, where he lived with his mother and 3 siblings and attended school. Elliott was a bright and vibrant young boy who’s smile beamed; his absolute joy for life was palpable everywhere he went. Elliott had a love of learning, a zest for numbers and could always be counted on to ask the why questions in science; his curious mind always wanted to know more. Elliott was good at solving puzzles, whether it be a jigsaw puzzle, a video game or a board game; he played a mean game of connect-4.

We, as his family, are hopeful that in Elliott’s passing he can solve one more great puzzle, and are donating his tumor to DIPG cancer research; May his tumor be the key to unlocking better treatment options, to allow warriors more good days with the families who love them.

Elliott is survived by his parents Deanna Hagerman & Dylan Hughes (Teddi), his siblings Kai, Ryleigh & Huxley, his grandparents Glenda & Walter Hagerman and Annette Hughes as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his Great Grandparents, his Uncle Robert Hagerman and his 3 siblings lost in pregnancy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15th, 2025 at 11:00 am at Schoening Funeral Service (513 Seymour Street, Kamloops) with a reception to follow.

Please note: the family is asking those who attend to refrain from black attire.

In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation be made in Elliott’s memory to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
