February 20, 1933 – February 24, 2023
Eliese was born to John J. and Maria (D) Neufeld while they lived in Saskatchewan during the so called “Hungry Thirties”
In 1935, the family of five girls moved to Manitoba. She attended elementary school in Minto. Her early school years were marked by near sightedness, as well as sentiment against German speaking Canadians during WW2.
She accepted Jesus as her savior during those difficult years.
The death of her mother prompted the family to move out to B.C. in 1944
Eliese completed grade 12 at the M.E.I and then graduated as Psychiatric Nurse at the Valleyview Hospital for Seniors.
Her desire to know God’s word led her to study at Winkler Bible School at M.B.B. College in Winnipeg.
Eliese returned to Psych nursing at Riverview and met Steve Kaposzta there. They married January 16, 1969. Her husband’s interest in outdoor adventuring resulted in moves to Prince George, Kitimat, Terrace, and lastly, to Kamloops.
Meanwhile, Eliese became a telephone operator, motel and hotel secretary, amateur ham radio operator and a nurse again at Tranquil Nursing Home and other care homes in Kamloops. Her husband’s death and battle with cancer developed a deep trust in God as her Rock and Refuge.
We came to celebrate her 90th birthday on February 20, 2023. She fell that morning and as a result, she spent four quiet days at the beautiful Kamloops Hospice with her sisters by her side.
She was predeceased by her husband Steve, her sisters Annie, Helen, Kay, and niece Mary Ann. Mourning the loss of our dear sister are: Mary Dyck, Charlotte and George Funk, Lydia and Craig Green and her brother John Neufeld, her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thank you for your condolences.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Inland Hospital.
Condolences may be sent to the family at Kamloops Funeral Home.
