Margaret (Mickey) Inga Edwards
Oct.31, 1923 — Jan.11, 2017
Mickey passed away peacefully at Kamloops, BC at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Marie Jevne, sister Mable and brother Morris. She is survived by her three children: daughter Lynda (Glen) Craig and grandchildren Doug (Tammy) Braybrook and Chris (Samantha) Braybrook, daughter Glori-Jeanne Stephenson and grandchildren Tiffany (Jasper) Stephenson, Jody Stephenson and Trevor Stephenson, and son Tom (Judy) Edwards and grandson Chase (Chelsea) Edwards. Mickey was born in Wetaskiwin and grew up on a farm in the Vang district just north of Wetaskiwin. She was an avid ball player and very involved in her school while growing up. During the Second World War, she moved to Vancouver for a couple years where she and her life long friend Lorna worked at the Boeing Aircraft plant. After the war, Mickey returned to Wetaskiwin and soon married Earle. With the exception of a couple years in Edmonton in the late 50’s, they settled and made their home in Wetaskiwin where they raised their 3 children. Mickey worked for many years and was very involved the her community. She was a long serving Alderman, a member of the hospital board, a founding member of the Canadian Legion in Wetaskiwin and an active volunteer with numerous service groups in Wetaskiwin. Most summers were spent at Pigeon Lake with family and friends creating countless memories. Following Earle’s passing, Mickey moved out to Kamloops, BC where her son and daughter-in-law resided. The family wishes to give a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at Ridgepoint, Ponderosa Lodge and Kamloops Seniors Village. The constant care, kindness and compassion was incredible. A private family get together will be held in Wetaskiwin this summer.
