Amarjit Singh was born in the small village of PurtabPura, Punjab, India on February 2nd, 1961 to Udham Kaur and Mohinder Singh Dulai. The second youngest of twelve children, siblings were Kuldip Singh, Simar Kaur, Bimaljit Kaur, Surinder Kaur, Manjit Kaur, and Daljit Kaur and late Paul Singh, Harbhajjan Singh, Santoka Singh, and two other brothers who passed away as babies. Husband to Sukhwant Kaur for over 34 years, he was father to loving daughters Maninder, Bhupinder, and Satinder.
Amarjit enjoyed writing poetry, and published his book of romantic poems, with a few patriotic poems of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, “I continue writing to you…” in 1985. He was working on a sequel, “Rain of Tears.” In his book of poetry, he claimed to be fond of Gazal and songs. He also loved to read, travel, and socialize with friends. He had a very creative mind and was preoccupied with creating and building. He also loved cars, and enjoyed badminton and soccer.
