1926 – 2016
Kathleen Duckworth (née Kitchen) went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2016 owing to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Her beloved daughters, Elisabeth Duckworth and Dolores Duke were by her side until the end. Kathleen is also survived by her son Robert Duckworth and her daughter Valerie Zurkan, as well as her last remaining brother, Keith Kitchen of Tennessee. She leaves behind her much loved grandchildren: Melanie Dreyer (James), Amanda Stephens (Nick), and Timothy Page. She was proud of her great-grandchildren: Faye, Luke, Benjamin, and Aimee. She loved her cat, Charlie, and took great delight in looking after him. Kathleen was predeceased by her one and only love, her husband Rev. Harold Duckworth.
Dolores and Elisabeth wish to thank the wonderful care providers at Overlander Residential Care, first in Elm unit and then in Cottonwood. Their care, love and support of our mother was truly outstanding and will never be forgotten. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We also thank Dr. Howie for his oversight of our mum during her years at Overlander.
We will have a remembrance reception for Kathleen on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, at 79 Nicola St. West, the home she shared for many years with Elisabeth, her best friend after our father passed away. We invite all friends of the family, both old and new, including those who cared for her, to drop in and visit with us and remember Kathleen for the sweet, gentle, unassuming lady she was. Interment will be at the Kinnaird Cemetery in Castlegar, BC.
