Dorothy Ferne Morrison

Posted Mar 20, 2026 | 10:57 AM

December 9, 1945 – March 15, 2026

Dorothy passed away on March 15, 2026, in Kamloops, British Columbia.

She is survived by her son Bradley Morrison and her daughter-in-law, Arlene Wilkinson, both of Moncton, New Brunswick; two grandchildren, Tristram and Reece Morrison; siblings, Carol (Ernst) Blum, Gail Kowalski, Larry Casey, Jeanie (Rick) Ranger and Robert Casey and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by her parents, Mildred and Ray Casey and her sister, Alice Pulice.

Dorothy was born in Kamloops at Royal Inland Hospital. She lived at Knouff Lake where her grandparents owned the fishing resort and moved to Kamloops when it was time for her to begin Grade 1 at the now demolished North Kamloops Elementary School. In 1952, the family moved to Kelowna where Dorothy attended Grades 2, 3 and 4 at Glenn Avenue School. The family returned to Kamloops in 1955 where they have resided since. Dorothy graduated from North Kamloops Senior Secondary and attended Grade 13 at Kamloops High School. She married and gave birth to her beloved son, Bradley. When Dorothy divorced, she moved to Kelowna, living there from 1972 to 1984 when she and Bradley returned to Kamloops.

Dorothy was a hard-working diligent employee. She was employed by law firms in Kamloops and Kelowna for 43 years. She retired in 2010 just short of her 65th birthday.

She loved learning and reading. Words were beautiful to her. Dorothy took great delight in the small things in life. She was a kind, generous and thoughtful person. She was an artist who hummed through all her many projects. She particularly enjoyed making handmade journals and dishcloths which she gifted to family, friends and acquaintances.

Never forgotten and always appreciated. Forever loved and deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Western Canada Theatre.

Always believe something wonderful is about to happen.

“You can shed tears because they are gone,

Or you can smile because they lived.

You can close your eyes and pray they will come back,

Or you can open your eyes and see all that they left for you.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them.

Or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday,

You can remember only that they are gone,

Or you can cherish their memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind and feel empty,

Or you can do what they would want.

Smile, Open your heart, Love… and go on. —

Elizabeth Ammons
