Mother
Love, Respect Admiration!
On International Women’s Day March 8, 2022, Dorothy Ann Dunham Reibin passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes. Mom was born on Westham Island BC September 13, 1934. Dorothy will begin her next journey with those who passed before her, parents Matthew & Ruby Dunham and her two older, awesome sisters Lena & Beverly.
Mom raised 3 strong-willed boys, Micheal, John & David. She proudly watched her boys marry 3 beautiful passionate women. Dianne, Crystal & Sue.
She so loved her 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her many nephews and nieces. Dorothy always kept love in her heart for her first husband Paul his life partner Patricia Roberts and all the wonderful supportive in-laws. She later opened her heart and life up to her second partner Robert Hickey, and all of his family. She always made everyone feel welcome and loved.
Mom’s life started as a premature baby, she was never expected to live more than 24 hours, let alone 87 years! She fooled them all, Surviving pneumonia, having the equivalent of one lung removed at 25 because there was no penicillin yet and enduring many other health challenges! She was told by doctors if she stayed in the humidity of the lower mainland she may not make her 40th birthday! So off they moved to semi-arid desert Kamloops BC to raise her 3 boys and live out a miraculous life. Mom loved music, concerts, acting in plays at school, singing solo in church but mostly loved getting together with family and friends and sharing her voice with everyone. For many years Mom worked with seniors and this is where her compassion shined through. She was a born caregiver, mom always listened and advised when asked, she loved all flowers allergic or not, she loved the color Blue!
To say we will all miss her is an understatement! So let’s choose to never forget, please embrace her memory with a smile laughter, and lots of love.
Dorothy MOM would love that.
