April 17, 1929 – August 6, 2021
Our lovely Dot (Doris) Ellen (Spring) danced away to be with her beloved George on August 6, 2021 at the age of 92.
Dot was born at Southampton, England on April 17 1929. Father and Mother Fred and Florence (Goodwin) Spring, sister Jean (Ritcher) born 1930.
The Spring family endured living in England during WWII. Although these were tough times, some good memories were created while living in the country with her grandparents.
A double wedding was the talk of the village in Devon when she married Victor Holden along with her sister Jean with Frank Holden.
Dot came overseas to Canada in 1952 to start a new life with Vic and their new son Stephen. They lived for a while in Perry Sound, Ontario. They had two more sons, David and Mark.
Then after a separation from her husband she met George Angelo Zammit in 1965 in Victoria, BC. They soon married and had Angela.
Dot and George loved each other very much, and they had many beautiful memories of times spent together with traditional roast beef family dinners, spending time at Island View beach, Hornby Island with family and friends, and trips to Maui and Malta.
Dot found joy with organizing get togethers, especially “Wild and Crazy parties” and took pride with creating costumes for any event she was involved with. She was always so gracious with her time, and loved to be part of the excitement of bringing people together.
After George passed, Dot moved to Kamloops where she continued her legacy of being a positive force whatever she did. She always had a group of friends that she was so very fond of and enjoyed the connections and values of friendships. Dot was loved and will be missed.
She loved her family so much and found joy in all the simple pleasures such as a well made cup of tea, listening to music, watching the wind blow in the trees, capturing clouds wisp by in the sky as inspiration in her art work. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family while sharing humorous stories.
Dot also had a life long passion for drawing and painting which she shared. Always a lady that had a huge heart. Mom had a huge extended family which she loved and shared her life with.
To those of you that cared for our Dot each and every way, we are deeply grateful beyond words for all the extra love that was provided. We were so fortunate to have had special family time on Hornby Island, tea parties, art lessons, and laughs with Mom during all the years.
She will be remembered with love by her family ~ Sons ~ Stephen Holden (Kate), Dave Holden, Mark Holden (Lorraine), and Daughter ~ Angela Hall (John). Grandchildren ~ Julie, Rebecca, Michelle, Nicole, Chelsea, Wesley, Jonathan, Matthew, Sarah and Andrew. Great grandchildren ~ Sam, Chase, Kaden, Jackson, Chase, MacKenzie, Brady and Harlow. Nieces and nephews whom loved their Aunty Dot. Family in Malta and Lowrence and Carter clan always held a special place in Dot’s heart.
Her family was the most precious part of her life, and she was proud of us all.
Thank you to the amazing staff at Overlander Care Home. We thank you all for being there and giving the loving and kind, personal care for our Mom. Thank you to Dr. Dickenson, Sigalet and Loland.
Gatherings in Kamloops and Victoria will be determined at a later date.
Take a moment to remember a happy time you spent with Dot.
