Doreen Frances Paige

Posted Feb 2, 2026 | 10:59 AM

March 14, 1933 – January 23, 2026

Doreen Frances Paige, born March 14, 1933, in Kamloops, B.C., passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s/dementia on January 23, 2026 at the age of 92 at Overlander Long-Term Care.

Mother to Yvonne (Don) Simmons of Savona, Debby Paige of Sun Peaks, Roxy (Bruce) Morley of Kamloops and Tammy (Clay) Charbonneau of Langley. proud grandmother to Christopher (Lindsay) Corvus of Kamloops, Douglas (Kelsey) Winter of Esquimalt, Carli (Paul) Williams of Langley, Nayla (Kevin) Plumb of Langley, and proud great-grandmother to Aurora, Georgia, Robbie, Rhett, Brecker, Adeline, Rook and Revan.

Known for her outspoken and determined personality, Doreen will be missed by all who knew her. Doreen’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her four daughters, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Nieces Evelyn (Bob) Rutland and June (Ross) Cumming as well as several nieces and nephews from the Paige family.

Doreen is predeceased by her parents Xavier (Sonny) and Hazel Loveway. Her first husband William Byron (Barney) Paige, her partner George Winter, sister and brother-in-law Irene and Jim SeeSy. As well as all of Barney Paige’s siblings and their spouses, and her son-in-law Don.

Doreen grew up in Little Fort, B.C., then moved to Heffley as a young girl. She married Barney and lived at Little Heffley Lake where the Paige’s had a sawmill. They moved their young family to Pritchard and then Cherry Creek and settled in Savona, B.C. where their girls grew up. Doreen was a Brownie leader in Savona for several decades and was an active member of the Community Association; she briefly taught kindergarten at the school in Savona.

After Barney’s passing, she moved to Kamloops and worked at Kmart as a salesclerk and seamstress then office clerk for many years. She moved to Seven–O Ranch just past Rayliegh with George Winter and continued to live there until George retired; her branding lunches were legendary and enjoyed by all. After retiring from Kmart, Doreen continued to sew for others and was still hemming pants for ‘elders’ when she was in her 80s. She loved knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She made suitcases full of Barbie doll clothes and still had tiny boxes of doll shoes and frills in her collection of craft supplies. Doreen was a long-time active member of Vinsulla Women’s Institute (WI). She had many friends in the province and enjoyed many social activities including the Barriere Fall Fair where many of her creations were on display in various competitions. Doreen loved her little dogs and missed them dearly when she moved to Riverbend Manor and eventually Overlander Long Term Care.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Overlander Long-Term Care and her doctor for the kind and compassionate care she received throughout her residency. She was well thought of by them all, and the feeling was mutual.

Doreen was especially proud of her grandson Douglas (Gus) who is presently a Naval Officer in the Canadian Military and is on deployment, for that reason the family will wait for his return before settling on a celebration of life, likely in the summer when family can safely travel from out of town.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Society of BC in Doreen’s name. https://alzheimer.ca/bc/en

You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Paige family.
