January 25, 1967 – April 6, 2024
Surrounded by family and friends, sadly, Donata left us after an all too brief and unexpected illness on April 6, 2024, at the age of 57.
Donata was born at Vancouver General Hospital January 25, 1967. She spent her early years in North Vancouver (Deep Cove), then moving to Maple Ridge where she attended school, excelled in sports (Softball), graduating from MRSS, and lastly residing in Kamloops. Prior to her death Donata had been employed by the BCLDB for 27 years. She was a valued team member of both the North Hills and Westsyde Liquor stores. Donata valued her coworkers and community with the same adoration she bestowed on her family. Donata was passionate about her work. She took great pride in taking care of her team, customers and sharing her love of Craft beer and VQA wines.
Donata loved going on family vacations and taking part in new adventures. Her family will fondly remember the many years they vacationed in Whistler, B.C and their most recent road trip they took to explore California. Donata was an avid lover of music. Wherever she went the rock and roll tunes would be close behind. She spoke fondly of the music festivals she attended in Sun Peaks and the dancing that followed.
Donata loved to hit the slopes with her family and friends (skiing was her dream sport). In most recent years she developed a love of gardening and expanding her culinary skills with the help of her oldest daughter. Donata was exceptional in her social planning party skills for retirement parties, birthdays and special occasions for those who wanted her involved in their lives. Her famous stuffed mushrooms were always requested at all the events.
She will be dearly missed by those she left behind: her two daughters, Vanessa and Danielle, her younger brother Byron, her aunt Lucille, son in law Andrew as well as several cousins and many friends and co-workers. She was predeceased by parents, Robert and Phyllis Kangas, her Kangas Grandparents, Henry and Lisi as well as her Gibeault Grandparents, Harvey and Blanche.
A celebration of life will be held at The Salvation Army Church (Chapel) (344 Poplar St., Kamloops B.C) on Monday May 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided after the service.
You may offer a message of condolence at Cypress Funeral & Cremation Services for the Kangas family.
