October 4, 1950 — November 16, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dianne Hays. Born on October 4, 1950, in Aklavik, Northwest Territories, Dianne’s life was one of generosity, dedication, and a deep, enduring love for her family, friends and community. Dianne is survived by her children, Robin (Trent) and Michael (Jody), and her adored grandchildren, Izzy and Jonny and her husband Don. She is also survived by her sisters, Lois, Patsy, and Phyllis, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Pauline; her father, Douglas; and her brother, Ronald.
Raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Dianne attended the University of Alberta, where she earned her bachelor of science degree before becoming a Registered Dietitian. For nearly 50 years of practice, she devoted her expertise to senior care, touching countless lives with her compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. A true nurturer at heart, she believed that joy, laughter, love, and the occasional indulgent dessert, were essential ingredients in a well-balanced life.
Dianne held her family and friends close to her heart. She adored hosting gatherings, filling tables with her signature dishes, including her legendary homemade Caesar salad, delicious orange date loaf and legendary cookies. Her exuberant spirit made her the warm heart of every celebration, whether it was a holiday, an ordinary Tuesday, or simply the good fortune of finding a great parking spot, she believed life’s moments big and small moments were all worth pausing to appreciate and celebrate. She lived by the motto: “You can’t have too many friends.” Those fortunate enough to cross her path know she had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and instantly cherished.
She had an adventurous spirit and a lifelong passion for travel, returning to Hawaii more than 20 times. Each visit adding new memories and stories she eagerly shared. Dianne was also a devoted dance and hockey mom, endlessly supportive and always willing to put in the kilometres so her children could pursue their passions. In recent years, Dianne cherished her role as Grandma above all else. She loved in teaching her grandchildren to bake, build snowmen and garden, the simple moments that have became treasured memories. Her sharp wit, unmatched sense of humour, and open-hearted joy remained with her until her very last day.
Dianne’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Royal Inland Hospital and the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home for their extraordinary care, kindness, and support. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th, at the Coast Hotel in Kamloops.
All who knew and loved Dianne are warmly invited to attend and share in remembering a remarkable woman whose warmth, humor, and generosity will be profoundly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kamloops Hospice Association in Dianne’s honour. Today, in Dianne’s honor, let us laugh more heartily, love more fiercely, and make someone feel truly special.
