1986 – 2019
On Saturday, November 2, 2019, the light that was Gerrett Wade Depew left this mortal plane to shine on forever in heaven.Firstborn son to Katrina Grigg, fathered by John Depew, he was born on Oct 24, 1986, at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops BC. He left no dependents, but has a surviving spouse, Leeane, from whom he was separated by his bipolar disorder in 2010.
As a child in Cache Creek, he was curious and eager to make a new friend. His favorite holiday was always Halloween. But smashing the gingerbread house at Christmas ran a close second. He was a scout, and played baseball and soccer, and built amazing LEGO models.Relocating to Kamloops with his mom and brother, Gerrett went to Brock High School where he excelled on the rugby team and in art and drama. He loved a good game of magic the gathering, and gathered quite a crew to hang out with. After a brief career as a pizza cook, Gerrett met and married Leeanne. They move to New Westminister. Gerrett got his BST certification and worked as a bouncer at a local nightclub. One of his favorite accomplishments was being a big brother to Patrick. They shared many activities, including gaming, and most recently Gerrett was helping Patrick hone his skills as a dungeon master in D & D. With his fiancée Jade by his side, Patrick is now running campaigns with their own crew. They also participated in Amtgard, with the Ominous Valley in Kamloops, with Gerrett earning many orders of merit for various activities. Gerrett was also an active participant at Gardengate, where he did seeding, soil preparation, transplants, and plant sales. He also made pizza for the salsa challenge in 2014-2015. He will be missed there.
Family was very important to him, and even though he did not like his photo being taken, we have enough to remember all the good times.Ever a kind soul, he would help out with any job except painting. And he kept on working until the job was done. His stepdad says he was the best ditch digger ever!At church, he will be missed most for his masterful reading of scripture, and helping out at fellowship with coffee. Gerrett touched many lives, and if you have a memory of him, you know you were important to him. So remember him in your own way, in the way you know would honour him, and be ever grateful that you were blessed to be a part of his journey.
