1930 – 2017

On January 18th, 2017 we lost a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and dear friend, Burnice Lucille “Lou” Davis who was 86 years old. Born October 16th, 1930 in Brandon Manitoba, Lou later moved to British Columbia and married Russell Scott Davis. Lou is survived by her daughter Gwendolynn, her granddaughter Gwen Adeline and Great-granddaughter Jenna including many distant relatives and friends.
Lou was an influential icon in the post war modern women’s rights movement and became the first woman in North America to hold a licensed Blaster’s Certificate. Lou and her husband Russell were engineers in the planning of the world’s largest non-atomic blast in Ripple Rock, Campbell River, BC in 1958. They owned and operated C.I.L. Explosives and Accessories where Lou was a distributor and handler of all types of explosives.
After the sudden passing of her husband Russell, Lou went on to build and operate the Lost Erra Resort and Trailer Park in Campbell River, BC from 1970-1981. Lou retired on her farm in Pritchard, BC and was an active member of The Royal Purple for many decades volunteering countless hours to their charities, fundraising events and functions. Lou played key leadership roles serving as District Deputy, Honored Royal Lady and Secretary.
Forever in our hearts and memories, a private service for close friends and family will be held in honor and celebration of her life.
