1936 – 2022
David was born on February 27, 1936 in Sheffield, England. As a little boy he loved steam trains and would spend countless hours at stations collecting engine numbers in his log book His love continued throughout his life, with building model train tracks in his home. He then started his love of gardening, helping his father at the family allotment in exchange for spending money to purchase his first bike.
David met and married his first love, Pamela, in 1958. She shared a love for cycling having, spending many trips through the French alps and entering cycling races in the English countryside. They both also enjoyed hill walking and joined Rotherham Ramblers.
David had an artistic side, singing and dancing in musicals and photography, leading to amateur cine movie making. After retiring as a company director and financial accountant, David emigrated with Pam to British Columbia, Canada in 1997, to join his daughter Kay (Darren) and grandchildren Emily (Grahame) and Liz (Sarah). He continued his love of gardening and joined the Point Grey Chrysanthemum Society, where David grew many prize winning blooms. David also enjoyed travelling with Pam, continued with his singing, but this time in church choirs as his faith was important to him. However, many of his favorite times was simply puttering in the garden with his grand kids when they were little.
The family is grateful that David is now finally at peace after several years of ill health.
There will be a service of Thanksgiving for His Life at 2:30pm, Saturday, November 5th at Kamloops United Church.
Condolences may be sent to the family at Kamloops Funeral Home.
