July 3, 1952 – November 1, 2024 

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David R. Stark (Dave Senior) at the age of 72 years old after a brief fight with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing. 

Dave was a devoted husband to his wife Dorothy for 47 years and a loving father to his children: Janice, David and John. He was also a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren: Serina, Kaleigh, William, Taurik and Hannah. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Janice, his son (Dave Junior) and his brother (Robert). 

Dave was born in Vancouver on July 3, 1952. In his youth, he spent time in Invermere, Hope and 100 Mile House; later joining the Military and working with his father as a Hunting Guide before he met Dorothy in 1977. 

In 1986, Dave and his family moved to Kamloops and in 2015, he and his wife settled in Louis Creek (Barriere, B.C.). Dave was an admired and respected member in many different blue-collar industries but spent most of his time with the mining community; 52 years. His knowledge and skills in this industry are greatly missed. He maintained a strong work ethic in every endeavour he pursued and had a difficult time sitting idle so during his time off from mines, he kept himself busy driving trucks, operating heavy duty equipment, and working in construction. 

Dave believed that you were never too old to learn. He utilized his extra time educating himself, pursuing his hobbies and interests and teaching those around him. He acquired and maintained all educational opportunities presented to him; superintendent certifications, blasting certificates, First Aid etc. This list is extensive. As well, he acquired his pilot license, scuba diving certifications and earned diplomas in gunsmithing and locksmithing. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent every opportunity he could camping, hunting and fishing. He loved animals (especially his best friend Peaches and his chickens), gardening, home renovations and spending time with his family and friends. 

Dave left behind a legacy. His humour, strong personality and blunt honesty were admired and enjoyed by many. His fierce protection and love for his family and friends is very missed. A Celebration of Life will be held for Dave at the Lions Hall in Barriere, B.C. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.; a tea to follow at the Hall. 

An evening gathering will be hosted after the service at the Stark home in Louis Creek. Please bring your camping units and come enjoy music, a campfire, stories and laughter.
